This week, I began construction of my new personal website “F8 Explorer” with it officially launching as of today.
The name draws from the photojournalist motto of “F/8 and Be There!”
It means arriving at the scene of a photo assignment (especially breaking news) with your aperture set to F/8 so that everything is in focus as you might be walking into a situation where you need photos in a hurry.
And F/8 puts most things in focus.
It means to always be prepared to shoot and to be in the moment and to not overthink your photos.
Explorer is just that … exploring the world around you and life as it passes.
I love photography and love exploring, but had both curtailed these last few years … more so during the lockdown associated with COVID-19.
The F8 represents always having a camera with me, always ready to photograph whatever catches my eye.
The “Explorer” represents stepping back out there … going places, exploring the world, trying new things and expanding my horizons with camera and other such tools helping document.
This website is the platform for sharing all this with the world.
Nutshell — This website embraces my love photography … having a camera with you at all times at the ready … and putting myself out there, seeing the world & experiencing life as it flows around me.
Life is too short to do otherwise.
