"f/8 and be there"

… is one of the first expressions I learned as a photojournalist.

It’s an expression used to indicate the importance of taking the opportunity for a picture
rather than being too concerned about using the best technique — a philosophy in which,
on occasion, action is more important than reflection.

about me

My name is Mike Tripp,
photojournalist.

Picked up photography while historical reenacting and got sucked into freelancing for the local paper. Mentored and learned under great community photographers and journalists.

Worked my way into a staff position at a daily paper, became a chief photographer and now freelance with a much broader skillset.

Am a photographer, journalist (working with photos, words, audio & video), scifi geek, history nut and adventurer.

Also a Klingon who happens to be Jedi.
