The one-room Moffett’s Creek Schoolhouse built in the late 1800s sits on property at the edge of Mt. Hermon Cemetery along Va. 681 in Newport in Augusta County, Va. Even though on the National Register of Historical Places, the structure is under threat of being torn down in favor of a future new road that would lead into the cemetery. Photographer’s Note: Learned about this from friend and fellow photographer Randall Wolf. It breaks my heart that places like this are so easily written off. And wondering if there is another way a road could be built without threatening the structure or if this structure could be moved and preserved somehow.
