Stepping into Harry Potter’s universe as a Klingon Jedi with his daughters.<\/h4>\r\n\r\n

Attending quidditch on Friday at Queen City Magic & Mischief was straightforward and easy as I was on the clock, working on a forthcoming story for WMRA.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

But Saturday was different.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

I love Harry Potter \u2026 true, but why should I let the fact that I do NOT have a Potter-verse cosplay stop m e from attending such an event dressed for the occasion? <\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now, a year ago \u2026 I would have.  Out of fear that I\u2019d be signaled out or even draw attention to myself, I would have (and did) gone in street clothes.  <\/p>\r\n\r\n

Digging in the closet, I pulled out a tunic that I had made previously for my Klingon persona, slipped on the baldric, belt (which actually is a Jedi one I thought would look perfect with my Klingon look), robe (also Jedi in origin but same story) and finally a staff I just happened to have on hand.  <\/p>\r\n\r\n

I do have a wand, but honestly couldn\u2019t find it  \u2026. so \u2026. grabbed a toy lightsaber and hung that from the belt, under the robe. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

It\u2019s the wand of a Jedi knight.  Am I right or am I right????<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now, both my daughters went with me and have to say \u2026 They did not even bat an eye.  <\/p>\r\n\r\n

THAT impresses me. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

We poked around and mingled with the crowd. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

Once, I heard a person laugh and say to there friend \u2026 \u201cHey! That\u2019s a lightsaber!\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Another occasion \u2026 \u201cJedi \u2026. Nice!\u201d <\/p>\r\n\r\n

But my favorite was the lady who came up to me and said \u2026 \u201cI have to ask. Aren\u2019t those Klingon?\u201d <\/p>\r\n\r\n

She was pointing to the pins on the baldric. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cNice! \u2026 Great way to represent the different fandoms!\u201d <\/p>\r\n\r\n

From a distance, I did blend in. But it was when you began looking closer that you would  begin noticing the details. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

I\u2019m a huge fan of several different genres and wear that with pride. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

NEVER \u2026 be afraid to express yourself and dress as YOU wish to dress when attending these events. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

Just release your inner child and stand back. <\/p>\r\n
